Muesli Bark

Muesli bark I was conflicted as to whether or not I should name this delicious dessert a healthy treat because I didn’t want to mislead anyone. So, I did what any person who has a health-related question does! I turned to a world-renowned Doctor for its expert opinion and I asked two simple questions Is muesli healthy? Is dark chocolate healthy?

Here is what Dr google had to say;

“Muesli is a breakfast cereal that contains oats, seeds, nuts, and dried fruits. Compared to sugary breakfast cereals, muesli is a healthier option “

“Dark chocolate is loaded with nutrients that can positively affect your health. Made from the seed of the cacao tree, it's one of the best sources of antioxidants you can find. Studies show that dark chocolate can improve your health and lower the risk of heart disease.”

After this in-depth research I have concluded that the muesli bark I made is healthy and therefore can officially be called a healthy treat, with a guilt free tag!

So ladies and gentlemen please enjoy the healthy muesli bark treat recipe below:

Ingredients

200g dark chocolate ( you can cheat and use 100g milk and 100g dark. I won’t tell if you won’t tell)

1 cup of my homemade muesli

(You can find my homemade muesli recipe, under the heading ‘breakfast’ on my website) or store-bought muesli

I added a couple of tablespoons of broken nuts and chopped-up dried apricots!

Method

Line a cookie tray with baking paper. I brush my baking paper with a little bit of oil to make sure nothing will stick to it.

Break chocolate into pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt chocolate in the microwave in 20-second increments, stirring after each time, repeat until chocolate has melted.

or

Pour 2.5cm water into a pot. Place on stovetop and bring to a boil, once water has boiled reduce heat to low.

Place a slightly smaller heat-proof bowl on top of the saucepan.

Place chocolate in the smaller bowl and stir, using a rubber heat-resistant spatula. Stir until chocolate has melted completely: roughly three minutes.

Pour melted chocolate onto the baking paper and spread the melted chocolate as evenly as you can.

Sprinkle with muesli and nuts.

Put in the freezer or fridge (I kept mine in the freezer) and enjoy 😊
